Still Not Asking For It Flash Event Taking Place on June 9

Mark your calendars and get ready to be tattooed. On Sunday, June 9, 2019, tattoo shops and studios around the world will be participating in this year’s annual Still Not Asking For It flash fundraising event.

The event, now in its fourth year, was founded in 2015 by Salt Lake City based tattoo artist Ashley Love, who works at Yellow Rose Tattoo. According to the organization’s website, Love recognized the lack of sympathy in the tattoo community for victims of sexual assault and rape.

In an interview with Tattoodo, Love recounts her own personal experience that became a catalyst for launching the fundraising event. In the interview, she says:

“I want survivors to know that they are not alone. I want them to know that they are valuable and their feelings are justified. I want predators to know that they are the odd ones out.”

This year, 85 shops across the country and internationally are participating in the event with both male and female tattoo artists pitching in to raise money for organizations that support rape and sexual assault recovery and prevention.

To date, SNAFI has raised over $367,000 for both The Joyful Heart Foundation and other local, city-based organizations.

Local shops choose the charity of their choice, so funds usually stay within local communities to benefit this important cause.

The expanded roster this year includes participation from shops in the U.K., Canada, New Zealand, Peru, Italy, Costa Rica, and Australia, making it a truly worldwide event.

Individual shops and artists will have their own flash designs for the events, so make sure to find a local participating shop via the SNAFI Instagram Page, browse the flash available from your local shop, and follow booking protocols if shops are taking appointments for the event. Each tattoo shop will have its own policies for appointments vs. walk-up availability.

Tattoo rates for the flash events are at the discretion of shops and tattoo artists. For more information, visit www.stillnotaskingforit.gives.
