Tara Morgan: Bountiful Botanical Designs

Tara Morgan is the owner of Black Dragon Tattoo Company, located in Groton, New York. She has been tattooing for 17 years and she specializes in nature and botanical tattoos, done in both color and black and gray.

Morgan started her art career painting and making custom furniture that she sold on eBay. She used to drive around and pick up discarded furniture and put her artistic spin on unwanted pieces. She was also the first person to make and sell handmade ouija boards on eBay. The boards were accented with Morgan’s handprinted floral designs.

After years of getting tattooed, Morgan’s artist, the late Gene Bernando, offered her an apprenticeship after noticing her clean lettering designs. Despite being a single parent, Morgan was able to make the apprenticeship work and continued to tattoo under the guidance of Bernando in his Asbury Park shop until he died from brain cancer.

Morgan went on to work at other tattoo studios in New Jersey, including Tattoo City, owned and operated by Ernie Carafas. Following a fire at Tattoo City, Morgan moved to New York and opened up Black Dragon Tattoo Company.

Tara Morgan Tattoo Prices

According to the FAQ section on the Black Dragon Tattoo Company website, the shop has an hourly rate of $150. Smaller, one-session tattoos start at a flat rate of $100.

All tattoos require a deposit in order to book. Pricing is subject to change and is at the discretion of your tattoo artist.

How to Book a Tattoo With Tara Morgan

Morgan currently books her tattoos quarterly using the booking form on the Black Dragon Tattoo Company website. All prospective clients must fill out the form in order to be considered.
